Program Continuum
Acute Inpatient - For adults who
need an intensive therapeutic structure providing medical and
psychiatric treatment. This includes but is not limited to: active
suicidal thoughts/plans, psychosis, major depression,
detoxification, violence/acting out, delusional thoughts, etc.
Partial Hospitalization - For adults
who require stabilization without the need for inpatient
hospitalization. This program provides traditional models of
inpatient care during the day with the patient returning home in the
evening. There are two tracks - one for the chemically dependent
patient and one for the patient with the need for psychiatric
treatment. If a patient needs a place to stay while attending the
program there are campus apartments. (Transportation to and from
treatment and AA/NA groups is provided for the patients who stay at
the apartments.)
Intensive Outpatient Program - IOP -
This is group therapy for patients who abuse or are dependent on
alcohol or drugs or patients who have psychiatric issues or patients
who have both substance abuse issues and psychiatric issues, but
does not require intensive psychiatric or medical management. These
groups are held 5:30PM-8:30PM on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday
nights for approximately five weeks. There are two tracks - one for
patients with psychiatric issues and one for patients with substance
abuse/dependence issues. Two nights of the program involve only the
patient going to group therapy and one night involves the patient
and his or her family or significant other (if available) going to
group therapy. Here the patient is assigned a licensed or license
eligible therapist. This therapist works with them to establish an
individualized plan of treatment and identifies problems, sets goals,
and recognizes individual assets and liabilities in developing steps
to meet their goals.
Individual/Family Counseling -
Should an adult need individual or family counseling appropriate
referrals will be made to qualified professionals.
