Children and Adolescent Program
The decision to hospitalize a child must be made very carefully and
only after less restrictive alternatives are deemed to be
inappropriate. The first concern of our program is to provide a
safe, nurturing environment for a pre-adolescent's special
needs.
Warning Signs of Problems
Suicidal thoughts or gestures, hyperactivity,
explosive episodes, danger to self and/or others, attention
problems, depression, severe/sudden mood swings, defiance, increased
irritability, declining school performance, withdrawal/isolation,
apathetic attitude, sleeping/eating changes, and threats to run
away.
The Pre-Adolescent Psychiatric Program - is
designed for children ages 6 years to 11 years old.
Program Continuum
Acute Care - Highly intensive inpatient
program designed to provide stabilization for a pre-adolescent in
severe distress exhibiting dangerous behavior.
Partial Hospitalization - Offers a less
restrictive environment that allows a pre-adolescent to live at home
and receive comprehensive treatment and maintain a school
schedule.
When outpatient therapy is deemed to be the most
effective course of treatment, we work closely with a network of
qualified professionals to arrange appropriate referrals.
The Adolescent Psychiatric Program is designed
for children ages 12 to 17 years old. Like many adults, many
adolescents suffer mental illnesses such as severe depression,
psychotic disorders, or personality disorders, while others may
become defiant, withdrawn, or even suicidal. Drug and alcohol
addictions are becoming more common and serious among teenagers and
can easily destroy young lives. Our program is directed towards
helping adolescents increase self-esteem and take responsibility for
their behaviors without turning to drugs or alcohol for help.
Warning Signs of Problems in Adolescents
Aggression, depression, dishonesty/stealing,
isolation, increased irritability, eating/sleeping changes,
severe/sudden mood swings, depression, defiance, loss of energy,
withdrawal, apathetic attitude, changes in appearance, declining
school performance, violent behavior, self destructive behavior.
Program Continuum
Acute Inpatient - Addresses the problems of a critical
nature with highly structured programming.
Partial Hospitalization - Provides specialized
treatment during the day, with the adolescent returning home during
the evening.
Residential Treatment - For male and female
adolescents from the ages of 12 to 17 with serious emotional and
behavioral problems that require a structured environment.
Residential Male Adolescent Sex Offender Program
- This program serves adolescent males between the ages of 13 and 17
who have been identified as exhibiting inappropriate sexual behavior
that interferes with their ability to function in the community and
which places the community at risk. This program provides extensive
treatment in a structured environment.
When Outpatient Therapy is deemed to be the
most effective course of treatment, appropriate referrals will be
made to qualified professionals.
