About Parkwood

Parkwood Behavioral Health System is a 128 bed facility (72 acute, 40 residential beds and 16 beds for pre-adolescents), devoted exclusively to the care and treatment of children, adolescents and adults with psychiatric and substance abuse issues. Since commencing operations in April, 1987, Parkwood has successfully served North Mississippi and the Mid-South region through the offering of comprehensive mental health services. Programs include inpatient, partial, intensive outpatient and residential treatment. Our Residential Treatment Center has a fully licensed school on campus known as Park Academy.

Parkwood Behavioral Health System, located in DeSoto County, is in the uppermost northwest corner of Mississippi. Approximately 7 miles south of Memphis, TN, the hospital is part of the Memphis Metropolitan Statistical Area, which serves a census of approximately 1.2 million people.

Presently, there are four outreach assessment centers located throughout the northernmost part of Mississippi. These are located in Tupelo, Batesville, Grenada and Cleveland, MS. In addition, we offer mobile assessment services in the northeast part of Mississippi.

Physicians providing care in this facility are not employees of Parkwood Behavioral Health System, but are independent contractors or can be employees of other institutions.
