Overview
The therapy group is based on a conjoined model, meaning
the patient and spouse (or significant other or parent) are in the same group.
The therapist works closely with both the patient
and the family to address the recovery needs of the
patient and direction for both the patient and family.
The hours of the program are 5:30 - 8:30p.m. Mondays,
Tuesdays and Thursdays. One night of the program is dedicated to the family and
patient and the other two nights involve the patient only.
The program focuses on
treating addiction and the psychiatric dual diagnosed person and
returning him/her to a productive role in society. The program also treats the family members and helps them begin their
recovery process. Emphasis is placed on educating both patient and family
members to establish and use recovering community.
Program Philosophy and Mission
The mission of the intensive outpatient program is to
provide high quality individualized treatment. Recovery from psychiatric issues
can result from a dynamic of successful experiences
in an emotionally stable lifystyle. The
three top priorities of this program are education,
insight and experiential opportunities. The philosophy of 12-step is part
of the therapeutic setting and is combined with a
focus on building life skills such as communication,
thinking errors, relaxation techniques, anger management and
problem solving. The
philosophy of a 12-step Program is part of the therapeutic setting

techniques, anger management and problem solving.
Addiction is often reflective of mismanagement
in many areas of life. The patient may need assistance in reconstructing his/her
life physically, emotionally, spiritually, and vocationally. Staff attempt to
address these needs directly or through the referral process.
In brief, the philosophy of treatment is one of concern
for the recovery of the patient and family. From admission through aftercare
follow-up, the staff makes every effort to point the way toward responsible
living without chemical support.
Program Description
In the intensive outpatient program each patient is
provided the best professional care from a licensed or license eligible
therapist. A licensed therapist supervises the program and directs the care of
patients. The therapy group is based on a conjoint model, involving both the
patient and significant other in treatment. Each patient is evaluated by an
outpatient therapist, and the patient is encouraged to bring his/her significant
other to the interview. During the course of the treatment, an individualized
plan of treatment identifies problem areas, sets goals and recognizes individual
assets and liabilities in developing steps to meet these goals.
