What aftercare programs are available?

With the restrictions on patient length of stay and to ensure patient success it has become vital that each patient be provided appropriate "aftercare".  This is a major portion of this hospital's outpatient programs.  When Parkwood does not operate a facility in a location, contract providers are utilized and other community providers.

Who can refer someone to Parkwood Hospital?

We welcome referrals by medical or mental health caregivers, case managers, employee assistance programs, family members, community agencies, hospitals, clergy, friends and patients themselves.  If you would like further information call our representative at 1-800-477-3422 or click here to request information via email.

Will my insurance company pay for the services?

Parkwood Hospital works closely with patients, their families, agency representatives, insurance companies, EAPs and managed care providers to determine all possible payment options.  In addition, Parkwood Hospital will accept direct payment of fees for individuals who do not have or want to use insurance.  We are an approved provider for most major insurance companies and managed care plans.

What should I bring with me to Parkwood?

   Things to bring to Parkwood Hospital:

  • Casual clothing (wash and wear depending on the season) for five days & washing powders/laundry detergent to use in the washers and dryers provided for you.

  • Comfortable shoes (sneakers for outside recreation).

  • Overnight personal care items including shampoo and toothbrush.

  • 1 book or magazine (appropriate in nature)/Additional reading material is provided.
  • Small amount of money (for small purchases such as snacks, personal items and stamps).

  • Insurance forms and personal identification.

  • Current home medications in their original prescription bottles.

   Things to leave at home:

  • Televisions

  • CD Players & CD’s

  • Jewelry of any value over $25.00 or of sentimental value

  • 1 book or magazine (appropriate in nature)/Additional reading material is provided).

  • Any substances  that contain alcohol, drugs, or other substances that could be abused.

  • Tight fitting or short cut clothing, shirts with inappropriate slogans or revealing slumber wear.

  • Food of any kind.

  • Glass bottles

  • Wire hangers

If I have a problem on a weekend or in the evening, how do I contact Parkwood Hospital?

Parkwood  is open 24-hours a day, 7 days a week to help with your mental health and addiction issues and treat mental illness and chemical dependency.
